Postal Benchmarking Club: Retail

Welcome to the Global Post Office Retail Network Benchmarking Group

Global Post Office networks large and small are coming under increasing pressure to develop new revenue streams, cut costs and become profitable organisations. Competition is increasing and core activities are coming under threat. Shareholders, regulators and boards of directors all want more information on how their own networks compare to its peers.

Unlike their mail counterparts, Post Office networks are not competing for the same global business so there is a willingness and openness to share information for mutual benefit.

The retail benchmarking group invites executives responsible for Post Office Retail Networks to join this exciting new club. We are delighted to announce that we already have eleven Post Office Networks signed up as members of the group. These include:

An Post Brazil Post Egypt Post
Emirates Post HayPost Jersey Post
Liban Post Post Office UK Poste Italiane
Pošta Slovenije South Africa Post Office

The Retail Benchmarking Group has been set up to assist senior executives from Post Office networks to benchmark, share best practice, network with their peers and importantly improve the overall performance of their business.

Why is benchmarking so critical?

q            Continuous benchmarking against best practice is vital to improving business performance

q            Networking with their peers is the most effective method of broadening the horizons of executive teams

q            Lack of external focus encourages complacency which ultimately leads to poor performance

q            Learning about best practice in other organisations should be a fundamental part of an executive team's development

The aims of the Retail Group

q            The sole aim of the group is for Post Office networks to achieve measurable improvements to their business by:

-      Enabling Self Assessment and Comparison

-      Helping each other to identify strengths and weaknesses

-      Supporting knowledge sharing and benchmarking programmes

-      By providing access to information through networking, research, data, and circulating best practice

-     To provide management time to attend study tours and host occasional visits from other post offices

Why should you join this group?

q            An opportunity to network with your peers from other countries

q          It will help prevent duplication – most of your current problems have already been faced by someone else

q            The opportunity to compare Key Performance Indicators against other post office networks

q            It will open up access to best practice in other organisations

q            It will foster diverse networks, a key characteristic of high performers

q            It will prevent insularity and encourage members to understand a global perspective

q           You will have access to a large library of relevant information

q           Opportunity to attend case study days which will provide a very cost effective means of learning first hand from different post office networks

q          A password protected website where you will be able to network, post and collect information, hear about relevant case studies, read the latest  industry news

q          Receive a monthly newsletter giving you details of study tours, product development, relevant case studies and any global developments.

We need your help?

The Retail Benchmarking Group is designed to become a networking and knowledge sharing platform that will link senior executives from Post Office networks large and small. By sharing each others methods, expertise and practices, members will be able to determine if their own organisation is on the right track, identify any likely barriers and learn from others experiences.

Upon joining, we will send you a questionnaire that will ask for basic details of your organisation, your key contact information and a list of questions on the topics or burning issues you would like the group to focus on. Triangle will then analyse all responses and will announce the first area the group wishes to focus on. Please can we request that you return the questionnaire to us as soon as possible.
