Overview
The UK mail market is currently undergoing major changes. Competition is
gradually appearing at a time when Royal Mail has had unfortunate
difficulties meeting its delivery targets. At the same time the mail
business itself may be under threat from substitutes such as email, the
Internet and the phone. Major users of mail services face real choices for
the first time. Should they continue to invest in mail as a communication
medium and, if so, whom should they use? In making these choices they need
to know about innovations which will encourage the use of mail and the
services being offered by postal operators.
