Date: 7 May 2009 - 8 May 2009 | Location: Hilton Munich Park Hotel, Munich, Germany

Overview

The environment gets tougher – Navigating successfully through difficult times

The world is experiencing significant economic turmoil. Many economies in Europe are experiencing recession for the first time in many years. 2009 is for many even more difficult than 2008, and who can predict 2010 and beyond?

Traditional business models are therefore being challenged as never before. The success of national postal operators, and all mail, parcels and express companies, depends very directly on their customers’ business success. And their customers are everyone! None of us can therefore expect to be immune from the effects of any economic downturn.

Very appropriately, therefore, the headline theme for the World Mail and Express event in Munich was ‘The Environment Gets Tougher’. The two-day conference focused on finding ways of ‘Navigating Successfully Through Difficult Economic Times’, which is the supporting theme.

Attendees included:

  • National postal operators
  • Government postal administrations
  • Private mail and express operators
  • Couriers
  • Integrators
  • High volume mail/express customers
  • Airlines & logistics companies
  • Mail consolidators
  • Mailing & fulfilment houses
  • Printers & publishers
  • Consultants
  • Regulators
  • Industry suppliers/consultants

The event was a real success with many senior decision makers and delegates being able to:

  • Network with suppliers, customers and key industry figures;
  • Build and strengthen alliances with partners and customers;
  • Hear the views of senior industry executives;
  • Keep updated on new ideas and developments within the industry.

Information regarding next year’s event will be confirmed in due course and will be announced first here. To ensure that you are kept up to date please subscribe to our newsletter now.

Presentations from the World Mail & Express Europe 2009 are available for download  free of charge to attending delegates, and at a cost of £250 for all others. Please contact Tiffanie Groves for details on +44 (0) 1628 642910.

Networking

World Mail & Express is the foremost networking conference in the global calendar.

During the event there are a number of social activities, including dinners, a Bavarian themed evening (hosted by DHL Global Mail) and a cocktail party, designed to help you renew acquaintances, talk with your peers and make new introductions.

In addition, Speed Networking (sponsored by Belgian Post International) creates a structured and fun environment in which delegates can talk to people who they may not normally come into contact with and facilitates a quick decision on whether there is a mutual interest, without the need for polite or unnecessarily long conversations.

Exhibition

Exhibition

Alongside the seminars and conference the exhibition display area featured a variety of leading organisations, operators and industry suppliers, ready to share and discuss their latest innovations. All refreshments and meals are served in this area, enabling delegates and exhibitors to mingle and discuss business at will.
