MAIL AND EXPRESS IN A VIRTUAL WORLD

Overview

After the global economic recession there is no doubt that recovery is under way. However the shape of this ‘return to normality’ cannot yet be predicted and will  provide some serious challenges, as well as some interesting opportunities, for management.

The 2010 World Mail & Express conference focused on this area, and how businesses in the mail and express industries should best cope and exploit the changing business environment.

The 2010 event was the 18th World Mail & Express Europe conference, but the first time the event has visited Scandinavia and follows hard on the heels of the merger between Post Danmark and the Swedish Posten AB. Lars G Nordström, group CEO of the new merged entity of Posten Norden, host sponsor of the event, commented “these are exciting times in our industry in Scandinavia – our merger creates a powerful new postal service and we are delighted that World Mail & Express Europe is coming to our region for what will be a highly informative conference”.

World Mail & Express Europe launched in 1988 and has built a strong reputation as the ‘must attend’ event in the mail and express calendar. Last year’s event attracted over 350 senior executives and the speaker list was a virtual who’s who of the industry worldwide. The content covers the burning issues within the industry, together with a  separate, specialised session on technology.

Information regarding next year’s event will be confirmed in due course and will be announced first here. To ensure that you are kept up to date please subscribe to our newsletter now.

If you were unable to attend the event in Brussels but would like to benefit from the conference contents, speaker presentations are available for download  free of charge to attending delegates, and at a cost of £250 for all others. Please contact Natalie Ryan for details on +44 (0) 1628 642910.

In the meantime, some of you may be interested in attending our other events, details of which are provided on the event calendar page.

Networking

The success of World Mail & Express events has been based upon top quality content, high profile speakers and importantly the opportunity for executives to network with their peers from around the globe in a relaxed yet business like environment.

Typically this networking takes place during lunch and refreshment breaks in the conference, in the bar during the evening or at more structured social activities.

During the 2010 World Mail & Express in Copenhagen a number of events were planned, including The World Mail Awards Gala Dinner, a spectacular themed evening at world renowned Tivoli Gardens (hosted by Posten Norden) and a welcome drinks party. All were designed to help delegates renew acquaintances, talk with peers and make new contacts within the industry.

In addition, during the conference on Wednesday 16th, there was a Speed Networking event (sponsored by Belgian Post International). The highly popular Speed Networking creates a structured and fun environment in which delegates can talk to people who they may not normally come into contact with and facilitates a quick decision on whether there is a mutual interest, without the need for polite or unnecessarily long conversations.
