Working together for the Customer" - The long-running World Mail & Express Conference comes to the Americas |
||
|
The battle for the level playing
field - so called by private couriers and mail operators –will be the
subject of stimulating debate when the long-running World Mail and Express
series of conferences travels to Orlando, Florida, on 9th –
11th December 2001.
Many chief executives of the major
South American post offices will attend the event to meet the private
competition and discuss common areas of potential co-operation and
conflict in the interests of “Working together for the Customer”.
Paul Jackson, Chief Executive of
Triangle Group, organisers of the conference, says “We are pleased to
take this event to the Americas for the first time.
Many of the issues that were to the fore in Europe when we
initiated this series of conferences in 1988, are now on the table in the
Americas. The public sector
is concerned about the private couriers and mail operators competing in
the profitable sectors. The
private sector is concerned that the post offices are developing
competitive services on a lower cost base but there is a suspicion of
cross-subsidisation from monopoly services.
It is surely not a level playing field – but then it never was!
This event will attract many senior players from both sides in the
Americas as well as those with experience and expertise from the partly
deliberalised market of Europe.”
Speakers include senior executives
from:
Sponsored by DHL, Consignia (UK
Post Office), Orlando Airport and supported by American Airlines, USPS
(Untied States Post Office) and UPAEP the event will facilitate free and
frank discussion amongst decision-makers on both sides of the fence who
now recognise that it is better to work with each other for the good of
the customer rather than letting the courts decide the marketplace.
Journalists wishing to attend
any Triangle
event should register in advance via the website. |
