Triangle announces launch of BuyersAgenda

“BuyersAgenda” is a web-based service that matches high-quality buyers of businesses with sellers. It is being promoted by Triangle Corporate Services Ltd, the Mergers & Acquisitions company of the Triangle Group, and is believed to be the first of its kind. It uses Triangle’s extensive knowledge of the freight, logistics, mail, express and related industries, gained from nearly 20 years of operations in these markets.

An industry first

While an internet service that puts companies together is not new, BuyersAgenda is the first within our industry that specifically focuses on the needs of the buyer. It has been specially designed to allow companies to search for opportunities that could be either domestic or in a completely new geographic region, in total confidence.

Answering the needs of buyers

We hear many times in interviews and discussions with Chief Executives of the leading freight, logistics, express and mail companies that they are unable to address key issues within their corporate strategies. In particular we hear the following types of remarks time and again:

  • How can we improve our network in Singapore.

  • Our forwarding agent in Milan needs help.

  • A quality UK logistics company would give us a real credibility boost for our next global contract tender.

  • It must be quicker and cheaper to buy an existing business rather than doing everything ourselves.

BuyersAgenda will answer these needs by allowing companies to list their requirements confidentially on our website. Our clients will be able to specify the location needed (e.g. USA, Germany, Hong Kong), the target industry (e.g. airfreight forwarder, contract distributor, hand delivery company) together with an indication of the size of company being sought. Importantly clients will also be able to include descriptive text that can provide as much or as little detail as needed – if one extra sentence or a complete page is requested, then BuyersAgenda can handle it. The system means that the buyer has no need to reveal their identity to the outside world at this stage.

Sellers will find quality buyers easily

Potential sellers, for whom our service is completely free, will be able to search BuyersAgenda and quickly determine whether buyers are looking for their type of business in their location. A simple online search facility will direct them to the relevant listing, where sellers will also be able to see the descriptive text written by the buyer that gives more details of the opportunity. Potential vendors will then register an interest with Triangle and supply some basic facts about the business, again in confidence. We will then pass details, on a no-names basis, to the potential buyer who will decide whether to take the contact to the next level.

Search for agents

Our service is also ideal for agency searches as well as corporate acquisitions. Clients will be able to look for suitable agents in any geographic location. Such a search could be in response to a strategy of expansion or to improve quality of service in an existing network.

Confidentiality and control

Commenting on the launch of BuyersAgenda, Mark Crown, M&A consultant at Triangle said “BuyersAgenda has been very carefully designed to fill a niche in the market, and will appeal to those businesses where senior management have neither the time nor the resources (financial and/or people) to search for opportunities in the conventional manner. BuyersAgenda will allow clients to state their needs to a global audience, while keeping their identity secret, retaining control and leveraging our expertise and reach in a very cost-effective way.”

Mark continued “Since its introduction to buyers at the beginning of January 2002, we have been encouraged by the level of interest and take-up among clients, both domestically and internationally. We will be targeting BuyersAgenda to vendors in a major way during April, once a “critical mass” of opportunities becomes available on the website. Early indications are very promising, and we believe that this will quickly become a key service within the industry.”
