Triangle News

The 2006 event, organised with the support of the national postal service Empresa Brasileira de Correios e Telegrafos, will be held at the luxurious Sheraton Rio Hotel & Towers, just a few minutes from the world-famous Ipanema beach.

This year’s WMX Americas will attract the top Latin American post and parcel executives as well as international decision-makers to Brazil for two days of high-level debate and networking around the key issues facing the industry today. Visitors will be able to take part in the discussions, meet colleagues in the industry and enjoy all the fabulous delights that Rio has to offer.

Last December, over 200 senior delegates from Europe and Asia joined board-level executives from countries throughout the Americas region in Miami to discuss international strategies for success, the progress of market liberalisation and its impact on their business. Representatives of more than 30 countries were there, including Chile, Mexico, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Jamaica, Ecuador, Peru, Uruguay and Brazil.

The 2006 Conference, the industry’s only annual forum for the region, will again have a significant Latin American and Caribbean presence within the international audience, attracted by its programme focused on the theme of Competing and Winning in Latin America. A line-up of more than 20 internationally-renowned speakers, primarily but not exclusively from South America, will address the delegates with their views, experiences and blueprints for the future of mail and express in the region and around the globe.

Investment in Latin America and the Caribbean is on the increase, and this is an exciting market with significant opportunities. WMX Americas 2006, the first event of its kind on South American soil, will enable postal operators, suppliers and customers to capitalise on these opportunities. Interspersed with the conference sessions will be business discussions with colleagues and peers during the breaks and social events which are always a popular feature at these gatherings.
