Following on from this year’s highly successful gathering of postal operators, express companies, integrators and their suppliers in Miami, next year will see a return for the event to Brazil.

It will bring together central figures from the transformation of the industry in North America, the Caribbean and Latin America, along with select expertise from the rest of the world looking at how existing experience and innovative foresight can be applied in this vibrant and diverse global region.

Next year’s World Mail & Express Americas is being graciously hosted by Brazil’s Post and Telegraph Company – Correios – one of the largest postal services in the world.

Recognising the company’s bold ambition under president Wagner Pinheiro de Oliviera in facing the modern communications age, returning to Brazil will highlight Pinheiro’s plans to “internationalise” Correios by extending its service reach outside Brazil’s borders.

Pinheiro revealed his intentions to challenge the world’s integrators in cross-border mail as he addressed to this year’s World Mail and Express Americas in Miami. He also emphasised the important transformation of domestic activities with a view to parcel and e-commerce growth, and its important social role in spreading economic development across the country.

Commenting on next year’s event, Pinheiro said: “Brazilian Post is glad to welcome back to our country such a prestigious and important event as The World Mail & Express Americas in the year we commemorate the 350th anniversary of postal services in Brazil.

“I hope that the ability to navigate challenging situations in the course of our historical development will inspire our discussions in Rio de Janeiro and help our industry to identify solutions and opportunities regarding current and future challenges,” added the Brazilian Post president.

Neil Jackson, chief executive of World Mail and Express conference organisers Triangle Management Services, and also the publisher of Post & Parcel, said: “We are pleased to announce that next year’s World Mail event for the Americas region will take place in Rio de Janiero.

“We are delighted to be returning to a country boasting one of the fastest-growing economies in the world, and where the postal industry plays such an important part in the fabric of society.

“As we saw in Miami this year, the Rio event will feature key decision-makers from the mail and express industry revealing their latest achievements, their experience on the key pressures facing many organisations in this field, and their strategies for thriving in a world in which the very nature of communications and human interaction is changing so fundamentally and so rapidly,” added Jackson.

This year’s World Mail and Express Americas event in Miami saw more than 200 of the region’s top executives in the industry attending to discuss current and future trends in conference and the accompanying exhibition of key suppliers.

The event was kindly supported by sponsors including Aprisa Express, bpost, Deloitte, HP, Intermec, Swiss Post and the US Postal Service.

The World Mail and Express Americas series of conferences has been running since the 1980s, and comes as part of a global season of events that includes World Mail & Express Europe and this June, World Mail & Express Asia-Pacific.

Programme planning is currently underway for World Mail & Express Americas 2013.
