London is one of the most populous capital cities in the world, and the collection and delivery of parcels and packets is a challenging business sector in central London. With couriers under pressure to achieve tighter deadlines, experiencing ever higher costs and greater environmental constraints the research looked at the business environment within this sector.
Triangle specifically examined the cost and environmental impacts that are caused by increasing pressures on operators to move their depots further away from the centre of London. As a result, there is a difficult balance to achieve between lower location costs and higher fuel costs.
TFL has found the Triangle study invaluable and the final report has informed their recommendations to the London Plan policy makers and planners, which will made public in due course.
