This is Triangle’s longest running survey and provides in depth coverage of the complex B2B express parcels market. Ths study focuses on the key players and how they are performing, but it also provides a detailed view of how customer’s expectations and demands are evolving and shaping the marketplace overtime.
The survey was based on 450 interviews with business shippers despatching 50+ parcels a month to business addresses in the weight range 2 kg to 30 kg requiring delivery next day or within 2/3 days.
The 149-page report establishes user perceptions for a number of carrier ratings and descriptors both for the business delivery specialist operators and those largely B2C orientated express parcel carriers now extending their reach into the B2B sector.
One of the principal features of this unique survey is the benchmarking of carriers by their users so that, not only can the operators see their relative performances in easy to read benchmark charts, but in addition, shippers can utilise the information for sourcing or reviewing their service provider.
In this edition, TNT Express received the highest spontaneous awareness rating followed by FedEx and UPS. The competitiveness of the market and the increasingly high user expectations is evident from the steep increase in the percentage of shippers that had stopped using a given carrier in the last 12 months.
Triangle’s ‘UK Domestic B2B Express Parcels Distribution Survey’ was first published in 1984 and remains the industry standard for the express sector to this day. Its status reflects the way in which subscribers, principally the carriers themselves, use the survey to benchmark themselves against their competitors whilst also judging their own company performance in all the important customer interface areas and the success of new initiatives.
