Triangle News

In his opening address Alaa Fahmy spoke of the importance of the technology era, and how history will judge this as being a period when the world benefitted from huge change. He went on to add that communication was one of the core beneficiaries of technological development, and how his country was proud that Egypt Post and Telecom Egypt were the major sponsors of such an important international conference.

At 9:00 tomorrow morning Fahmy will formally open conference proceedings at the Maritim International Congress Center. He will then hand over to the Chairman of the first plenary session, Elmar Toime, an internationally known figure within the global mail industry, who will chair a session including Fahmy, Director of MIT, Edmund Schuster, Moses Ma of Next Generation Ventures, and the Director General of the UPU, Edouard Dayan.

PosTech 2008 features over 400 delegates from over 80 countries worldwide, brought together to address the key issues technology raises in the postal industry, how these can be tackled and the profitable solutions that can be implemented. Held over 3 days at the Maritim International Congress Center, 2008 is the second PosTech conference after the successful inaugural event in Saudi Arabia in November last year.

A veritable who’s who of industry speakers are joined by an impressive list of sponsors, representing the major technology companies worldwide, including Cisco, Fujitsu, IBM, HP, Microsoft, Oracle and Sun Microsystems. Add in senior level delegates from most of the national postal operators worldwide and it is easy to understand why PosTech has become a ‘must attend’ event on the mail and express calendar.

The event is run by UK based Triangle Management Services and Mercury Communications, from Cairo. Neil Jackson, Chief Executive of Triangle commented “we are very proud to have assembled so many key players from the industry in one place to discuss the current key driver in the industry, technology. We are confident that as a result of PosTech, new contacts will be made, new alliances formed, and business co-operation instigated.”

The conference concludes Tuesday evening (18th November) with a closing ceremony.
